Omet, the press manufacturer from Lecco, Italy, has introduced a hot foil unit that slides on rails to increase the production potential of its X-Flex press. The unit can be deployed quickly and easily at any position in the printing process, says the company, without having to give up the use of a flexo unit.
Because the X-Flex has automatic pre-register and vision control, the adjustment of the hot foil unit is automatic in the same way as the printing units. This reduces preparation time and startup waste.

The optional tooling device integrated into the unit improves setup time and operator safety. It allows for easy removal of the printing cylinder, and a new printing roll can be prepared offline using the optional change trolley, equipped with a work table. The tension control system, which is integrated into the printing head, prevents foil wrinkles. The control panel and the print pressure adjustment system are ergonomically located.
